Acceptable use policy

Last updated November 3, 2026

This policy is part of the terms of service. It applies to everyone in a kaylin workspace and to everything kaylin does on the workspace's behalf: calls, texts, emails, autopilots and chats. Breaking it can get a workspace suspended or closed, and the business is responsible for any fines or claims that result.

Calls

  • kaylin's voice is AI. Under federal law (the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, 47 U.S.C. § 227, and the FCC's 2024 ruling that AI voices count as artificial voices), calls kaylin places to cell phones need the person's prior express consent, and marketing calls need their prior express written consent. Only ask kaylin to call people who gave you that consent or who asked you to call them back.
  • Don't use kaylin for unsolicited, unlawful or nonconsensual automated calls, cold calling or mass-dialing campaigns. Calls kaylin makes still need the consent the law requires and say who they're from. Outbound calls need an approval in the app, run only between 8 AM and 9 PM in the recipient's time, and must respect the National Do Not Call Registry and your own do-not-call list.
  • Tell callers when calls are recorded where the law requires it. Some states (such as California, Florida, Washington, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maryland, Illinois and others) require everyone on the call to agree. Turn on kaylin's recording notice, and turn recording off if you can't get the consent you need.
  • Never set kaylin up to claim it's a person. If a caller asks whether they're talking to AI, kaylin answers truthfully.

Texts

  • Text only people who agreed to hear from your business. kaylin texts a customer only if they texted your number first or said yes on a call when kaylin asked "Is it OK if I text you at this number?", and keeps a record of which. What it sends them: replies, booking confirmations and reminders, and follow-ups about what they asked for. Review requests go by email. Don't use kaylin for marketing or promotional texts.
  • Honor opt-outs immediately. kaylin automatically stops outgoing text messages when a recipient uses STOP, another recognized opt-out keyword, or any other applicable legally valid request to stop receiving messages. Don't get around an opt-out by using another phone number or another way of reaching the person through kaylin.
  • Follow the phone carriers' rules: register your business for texting, say who you are, and don't send content the carriers ban, including sex, hate, alcohol, firearms, tobacco, cannabis or other drugs, gambling, high-risk loans, debt relief or get-rich-quick offers.
  • Don't hide links, use shared link shorteners or rotate numbers to avoid filters.

Email

Follow the CAN-SPAM Act (15 U.S.C. § 7701 and following) for commercial email: no false or misleading headers or subject lines, your business's address in the message, a way to opt out, and opt-outs honored within 10 business days.

Information you handle

  • Upload and import only contact lists and files you have the right to use.
  • Don't have kaylin collect full payment card numbers, Social Security numbers, bank account numbers or passwords over the phone or by text.
  • kaylin isn't for health information protected by HIPAA. We don't sign business associate agreements, so if your business is a health care provider covered by HIPAA, don't use kaylin for patients' calls, texts or appointments.
  • Don't use kaylin to make decisions about people's credit, employment, housing or insurance.

Never

  • harass, threaten, deceive or defraud anyone, or impersonate another person, business or government agency;
  • discriminate against people unlawfully;
  • use kaylin for emergency services, or in a way that people's safety depends on it;
  • break any law, or help someone else break one;
  • try to get around kaylin's limits, probe or overload its systems, reverse-engineer it, or reach another workspace's data;
  • resell kaylin or let people outside your business use your workspace.

Reporting

To report misuse of a kaylin number, email support@kaylin.io with the number, the date and what happened. We look into every report.
